I SALEM UNIT NO. 2 SALEM GENERATING STATION MONTHLY OPERATING

SUMMARY

UNIT NO. 2 JANUARY 1989 The Unit began the period shutdown for transformer replacement and testing and repair of the high pressure turbine gland seal casing.

On January 9, 1989, following completion of the repairs, the reactor was brought critical for main turbine balancing.

On January 13, 1989, the Unit achieved full power and continued to operate at that level until January 24, 1989 when power was reduced to 80% to comply with condenser inlet/outlet temperature restrictions imposed by the NJDEP discharge permit.

The Unit was restored to full power on January 25, 1989, and with the exception of some minor load reductions for waterbox cleaning, continued to operate at full power for the remainder of the period.
