Tnis letter transmits the findings of the routine, resident safety inspection
conducted by Mrs. K. Halvey Gibson from November 8, 1988 to December 12, 1988,
at the Salem Nuclear Generating Station.
The findings were discussed with Mr.
L. K. Miller of your staff.
The letter acknowle~ges receipt of your response requested in NRC Combined
Inspection 50-272/88-17 and 50-311/88-17 regarding clarification of corrective
actions related to missed surveillances and control room documents.
The NRC is
continuing to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of your corrective actions
in these areas.
