Installation of this design change did not affect the ability to safely shutdown the Unit and enhances the availability of information for maintaining the plant safely shutdown after an accident.
This modification did not alter any plant process or discharge or affect the environmental impact of the plant.
No unreviewed safety or environmental questions are involved.
2EC-2011 The Salem Unit 2 Main generator was replaced due to serious damage experienced.
Installation of this modification did not affect the ability to safely shutdown the plant and no safety related plant systems were affected.
This modification did not alter any plant process or discharge or affect the environmental impact of the plant.
No unreviewed safety or environmental questions are involved.

SALEM UNIT NO. 2 SALEM GENERATING STATION MONTHLY OPERATING
SUMMARY
UNIT NO.
2 DECEMBER 1988 The Unit began the period operating at reduced power to heat soak the turbine in preparation for performance of the overspeed trip test.
On December 2, 1988, the Unit was synchronized following successful completion of the turbine overspeed trip test.
Power escalation continued during the week and full power was achieved on December 7, 1988.
The Unit continued to operate at essentially full power until December 9, 1988, when the Unit was shutdown following the detection of high combustible gas levels in the Phase III main transformer.
The Unit remained shutdown for the remainder of the period to replace the transformer and perform some additional maintenance on the main turbine.
