MEETING TO DISCUSS BIOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT OF SEA TURTLES OCCURRENCES AT SALEM GENERATING STATION On November.22, 1988 a meeting between the NRC staff and PSE&G was held in Rockville, MD to discuss the preparation of a biological assessment of sea turtle occurrences at Salem Generating Station. A copy of the agenda is attached.

The NRC staff concluded that the following items should be considered, in addition to those in the outline (copy attached):

1.

Operational aspects of the plants to minimize sea turtle occurrences

2.

Trash bar cleaning process

3.

PSE&G may want to cover all sea turtle species

4.

Cumulative effects of actions/activities The estimated time for preparation of the biological assessment was stated by

  • PSE&G to be 3 to 4 months.

However, before PSE&G can start approval from NRC is required.
