Combined Inspection 50-272/88-19 and 50-311/88-20
This transmits the findings of the routine resident safety inspection by
Mr. R. Borchardt and Mrs.
K~ Halvey Gibson, of this office, on September 27,
1988 to November 7, *1988, at the Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Hancocks
Bridge, New Jersey.
The inspection ~onsisted of do~ument reviews, interviews,
and observation of activities.
The findings were discussed with
Mr. L. K. Miller, of your.staff.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
However,
your attention is directed to paragraph 7 of this report which discusses a
number of problems identified regarding the proper establishment and implemen-
tation of procedures at Salem.
You are ~equested to provide a written response
detailing your assessment of these concerns, and those corrective actions you
plan to take to resolve them. Please provide the requested response within 30
days of receipt of this letter.
This letter also acknowledges receipt of your respon?e dated October 19, 1988
to the violation cited in .NRC combined inspection report 50-272/88-16 and
50-311/88-16.
Your response and corrective actions are being reviewed and will
be discussed in a future inspection report.
