SALEM UNIT NO. 2 SALEM GENERATING STATION MONTHLY OPERATING

SUMMARY

UNIT NO. 2 JUNE 1988 The Unit began the period operating at 100% power and continued to operate at full power until June 16 -

18, 1988, when load reductions were required to correct a "hot spot" in the temporary 13KV power feed from Hope Creek to Salem and to perform repairs to No. 23 West Intercept & Reheat Valves.

The Unit was restored to full power on June 19, 1988, and continued to operate at full power unit June 22, 1988, when a reactor Trip and Safety injection occurred due to the failure of No. 2C Vital Instrument Bus Inverter.

The repairs were completed and the Unit was restored to full power on June 25, 1988.

The Unit continued to operate at full power until June 29, 1988, when it was removed from service for approximately three hours to repair an electro-hydraulic control oil system leak on No. 24 Governor Valve.

Following the repairs the Unit ended the period in a power escalation.

The primary to secondary leak rate calculations for Nos. 22 and 24 Steam Generators continue to indicate less than five gallons per day per Steam Generator.
