Combined Inspection Report Nos. 50-272/88-01 and 50-311/88-01
This letter transmits the results of a special team inspection conducted by
Messrs. W.A. Cook, S.M. Pindale and R.J. Summers of this office on January 4,
1988 through January 8, 1988 at Salem Units 1 and 2, Hancocks Bridge, New *
Jersey.
A*summary of the findings was presented to Mr. J.M. Zupko, Jr. and
other members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
The inspection team reviewed the readiness of your staff and the facility for
the restart of Unit 1 following the 1987-1988 refueling outage.
The inspectors
concluded that, in general, the unit and operating staff were well prepared for
startup from the refueling outage.
The NRC Region I Inspection Report is
enclosed with this letter.
No violations were identified.
Your attention is
directed toward certain commitments made by your staff during this inspection.
A summary list of these commitments is provided as attachment A to the enclosed
report.
We appreciate your cooperation.
