Combined Inspection 50-272/86-24 and 50-311/86-24
This refers to the routine resident safety inspection by Mr. T. Kenny and Mrs.
K. Gibson, of this office, on August 19, 1986 to September 30, 1986, at the
Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey.
The inspection
consisted of document reviews, interviews, and observation of activities.
The
findings were discussed with Mr. J. M. Zupko, Jr. of your staff.
Within the scope of this inspection, one licensee identified violation involving
control of fire protection impairments was reviewed and is described in Section 7
of the attached report.
Because the NRC encourages and supports licensee ini-
tiative for self-identification and correction of problems, a notice of violation
was not issued.
