REQUIREMENTS FOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE CAPABILITY SUPPLEMENTAL 1 TO NUREG-0737 REVISED INTEGRATED SCHEDULE SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 In our letter to the NRC dated March 17, 1986, PSE&G indicated that the December 1986 commitment date for operability of the SPDS would not be met.
The letter also indicated that by September 5, 1986 PSE&G would provide a date when the SPDS will be fully operational.
The revised date when the SPDS will be fully operational is June 30, 1987.
This is based on the following activities regarding wiring, installation, testing and training.

The computers and peripherals will be shipped to Salem on September 15, 1986.
Internal wiring in the Westinghouse racks for Unit #1 will be completed in October 1986.
Testing for Unit #1 will be completed in February 1987.
Installation of Unit #2 equipment will be completed in December 198 6.

Testing for Unit #2 will be completed in April 1987.
0 Phase II (On-Shift Training) of the training program will be conducted after the testing is completed.
Completion of the last four items above, is dependent on the Unit No. 2 refueling outage which is scheduled to begin October 4, 1986.
Pursuant to our revised SPDS operational date, it is requested that NRC (S. A. Varga) letter dated June 12, 1984, be revised to reflect the new date.
