Gentlemen:
Subject: Combined Inspection Nos. 50-272~and 50-311/85-19
A special safety inspection was conducted on July 3, 1985, at the Salem
Generating Station to review licensee identified problems with improper
sampling of waste gas decay tanks and inadequate surveys of contaminated tools.
Initial corrective action was determined to be adequate.
No violations of radiological requirements were identified.
However, NRC
concern regarding On-the-Spot Changes of procedures will be discussed in a
separate report.
