~le have received a copy of your application dated March 2~ 1984~ which was filed with the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (ONRR} for review.
This applkation requested an extension to the reporting requirements of Appendix 1-1 of 10 CFR 50 for the Salem Nuclear Generating Station Unit No. 2.
Fees pursuant to 10 CFR 170.22 of th*e March 23, 1978 regulations were not submitted with this application.
It is current NRG policy not to assess fees for applications filed prior to June 20, 1984, when no review has commenced on the application prior to the time it is detennined that the application is no longer needed or is withdrawn. However, if review had commenced~ fees are assessed in accordance with 10 CFR 170.22 of the March 23, 1978 regulations. The ONRR staff has i11forn1ed us that review had cow.menced on your March 2 appli-cation (as evidenced by the July 13, 1984 letter from Darrell G. Eisenhut to Richard Pi. Uderitz) prior to the time it was determined the request was no longer needed.
Consequently, it has been determined that a Class III fee ($4~000) is appropriate since the review involved considera-tion of a single safety issue. Your Company is requested to remit the sum of $4,000 to this office.
