CONTAINMENT SYSTF.MS CONTAINMENT AIR LOCKS LIMITING CONDITION FOR OPERATION 3.6.1.3 Each cnntairnnent air lock shall J::e OPERABLE with:

a. Both doors closed except when the air lock is J::eing used for nonnal transit entry and exit through the contairnnent, then at least one air lock door shall J::e closed, and
b. An overall air lock leakage rate of < 0.05 Ia at design pressure (47 .o psig).

APPLICABILITY: ltl)DES 1, 2, 3 and 4 ACTION:

With an air lock inoperable, restore the air lock to OPERABLE status within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
or J::e in at least Har srANDBY within the next 6 hours6.944444e-5 days
0.00167 hours
9.920635e-6 weeks
2.283e-6 months
and in COLD SHU'ITa'm within the following 30 hours3.472222e-4 days
0.00833 hours
4.960317e-5 weeks
1.1415e-5 months
*

. SURVEIUANCE REQUIREMENTS 4.6.1.3 Each a:>ntainment air lock shall J::e demonstrated OPERABLE:

a. *After each q;>ening, except when the ai:i lock is J::eing used for TIUlltiple entries, then at least once per 72 hours8.333333e-4 days
0.02 hours
1.190476e-4 weeks
2.7396e-5 months
by pressurizing the volume J::etween the air lock door gaskets to > 10.0 psig and checking for an extrapolated** seal leakage rate-equal to or less than 0.01 La,
b. At least once per 6 months by cnnducting an overall air lock* leakage test at design pressure (47.0 psig) and by verifyin;J that the overall air lock leakage rate is within its limit, and

_ c. At least once per 6 months by verifying that only one door in each air lock can J::e q;>ened at a time.

~ Exemption to Appendix "J" of 10 CFR 50.

    • The measured leakage at the test pressure (10 psig) shall J::e nultiplied by an extrapolation factor of 9 .1 to detennine what the seal leakage flow rate would te if tested at design pressure (47.0 psig). This extrapolated seal leakage rate shall J::e less than or equal to 0 .01 Ia*

CONTAINMENT SYSTEMS CONTAINMENT AIR LOCKS SURVEILLANCE REQUIREMENTS (Continued a*..After each opening, except when the air lock is being used for multiple entries, then at least once per 72 hours8.333333e-4 days
0.02 hours
1.190476e-4 weeks
2.7396e-5 months
by pressurizing the volume between the air lock door gaskets to> 10.0 psig and checking for an extrapolated* seal leakage rate equal-to or less than 0.01 La,

b. Prior to establishing CONTAINMENT INTEGRITY, if opened when CONTAIN-MENT INTEGRITY was not required, and at least once per 6 months by conducting an overall air lock leakage test at design pressure (47.0 psig) and by verifying that the overall air lock leakage rate is within its limit#, and
c. At least once per 6 months by verifying that only one door in each air lock can be opened at a time.
  • The measured leakage at the test pressure (> 10.0 psig) shall be multiplied by an extrapolation factor of 9.1 to determine what the seal leakage flow rate would be at design pressure (47.0 psig). This extrapolated seal leakage rate shall be equal to or less than 0.01 La.
  1. The provisions of Specification 4.0.2 are not applicable.
