REQUEST FOR AMENDMENT FACILITY OPERATING LICENSES DPR-70 AND DPR-75 UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 SALEM GENERATING STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 Ref:

LCR 83-17 LCR 83-18 LCR 83-19 In accordance with the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended and the regulations thereunder, we hereby transmit copies of our request for amendment and our analyses of the changes to Facility Operating Licenses DPR-70 and DPR-75 for Salem Generating Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2.

This amendment request consists of three changes to Technical Specifications Appendix A.

The first change (LCR 83-17) is for Unit No. 1 and rewords two ACTION statements to agree with the corresponding statements on Unit No. 2 and with Standard Technical Specifications.

The second change (LCR 83-18) corrects a typographical error in Unit No. 2 T.S. regarding diesel generator surveillance testing.

The final change (LCR 83-19) revises the response time requirement for the overtemperature delta T reactor trip on both Unit No. 1 and Unit No. 2.

Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 12/27/83 LCR 83-18 is administrative in nature, and has been determined to be a Class II Amendment.

LCR 83-17 and 83-19 each involve single safety issues and have been determined to be Class III Amendments, as defined by by 10CFR170.22 with an additional Class I assessment on LCR 83-19 for the second unit.

A check in the amount of $9,600 will be sent under separate cover.

Pursuant to the requirements of 10CFR50.91, a copy of this request for amendment has been sent to the State of New Jersey as indicated below.

This submittal includes three (3) signed originals and forty (40) copies.
