- D. Fischer By letter dated November 16, 1981, you responded to NRC Generic Letter 81-21, "Natural Circulation Cooldmvn, 11 dated.May 5, 1981 for the Salem Nuclear Generating* Station Unit Nos. 1 and 2.
We have reviewed your submittals and conclude that there is reasonable assurance that steam formation at the upper head_of the reactor vessel during natural circulation cooldown will not occur. This conclusion is based on our review of the Westinghouse study applicable to the Salem Nuclear Generating Station, the training program for natural circulation coold6wn and the existence of sufficient condensate.supolv consistent with our recommendations *. We did not review the quide)~n~s or pro6edures.
Thjs effort is conducted as part of TM! Action Pl~n~Item I.C.l generic review of the vendor guidelines and is-addressed jn~our Generic Letter.
