MAR 0 7 1983 Pursuant to our telephone discussions with both yourself and Mr. John Driscoll, Assistant Plant Manager, on February 25, 1983, this letter confirms our under-standing that Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1 will not be tak~n critical without prior approval of the NRC.
This agreement is in response to the event at Unit 1 which occurred on February 25,* 1983.
It will be superseded by satisfactory resolution of the issues associated with the circumstances and details of the events that took place on February 22 - 25, 1983 at Unit 1 during which the automatic scram system did not function properly.
