POST-TMI REQUIREMENTS (GENERIC LETTER NO. 82-05)
SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 Attached is a revised tabulation of NUREG 0737 items includ-ing actual or scheduled completion dates and remarks where appropriate.
This revision is necessitated by diffiqulties encountered in meeting three of the anticipated completion dates which appeared in our April 15, 1982, response to Generic Letter 82-05.
Completion of NUREG-0737 Item II.B.3, Post Accident Sam-pling, for Salem Unit No. 1 was originally delayed by the manufacturer's inability to provide several valves necessary to complete the installation before July 1, 1982.
The ven-dor now indicates that the valves cannot be shipped before August 15, 1982, at best.
Because of the delays being experienced in material deliv-ery, our proposed schedule for completion of the Post Acci-dent Sampling System has been revised until prior to startup following the fourth refueling outage.
Interim procedures are presently in use for reactor coolant and containment atmosphere post accident sampling and analysis.
These same procedures were approved by the NRC staff for interim use in Salem Unit No. 2 in SER* supplement 5, Section 22.2 (IIB.3).
The detail design of the Unit No. 1 Main Steam Line Noble Gas Effluent Monitoring System (NUREG-0737 Item II.F.1) has taken longer than originally anticipated.
The system design work, materials acquisition, and field installation are presently in various stages of completion.
As a result, our proposed schedule for completion of the installation of the system has been revised until prior to startup following the fourth refueling outage.
