MICHl&AN'S PRD&RESS Palisades Nuclear Plant: 27780 Blue Star Memorial Highway, Covert, Ml 49043 October 23, 1992 Mr. Armand Masciantonio Nuclear Regulatory Commission Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT - FORTHCOMING TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS CHANGE REQUEST - PEAKING FACTORS Preliminary calculations done by our fuel vendor, Siemans Power Corporation, indicate that a Technical Specifications change increasing our radial peaking factors will be necessary for the upcoming Cycle 11 fuel cycle. Due to the shorter than normal length of the current fuel cycle (Cycle 10), and the terms of our present fuel contract, final calculations to support these changes will not be complete soon enough to allow submittal of a Technical Specifications change request six months prior to the desired effective date.
Cycle 10 will end at the beginning of our next refueling outage, currently scheduled to begin on May 7, 1993. The refueling outage duration is expected.
