PALISADES PLANT - WITHDRAWAL OF EXEMPTION REQUEST (TAC 53544)
By letter dated January 26, 1984, Consumers Power Company (CPCo) applied for exemption from certain requirements of Appendix J to 10 CFR Part 50.
The exemption would relieve CPCo from the specific requirements of Section III.B.2 of Appendix J as applied to air lock leak testing in that a vacuum type test of the containment-side door equalizing valve would be substituted for pneumatic pressurization. The staff did not take any action with regard to this application.
During a telephone conversation June 26, 1989, with Mr. R. Frisch of CPCo, it was determined that CPCo no longer requires this exemption and considers that the proposed modifications that would have been necessary to apply the exemption had it been granted would not be feasible. Therefore, we consider the requested exemption to be withdrawn, and no further processing of the application is planned.
