Dear Sir or Madam:

In accordance with 10 CFR 72.44(d)(3) and Certificate of Compliance No. 72-1029, Amendments O and 1, Technical Specification Section 5.2.3(c), Southern California Edison (SCE) is providing the Annual Radioactive Effluent Release Report for the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS).

The period of the report is January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017.

The AREVA dry shielded canisters are double seal welded and designed to meet the criteria of Interim Staff Guidance-18 and thus prevent effluent releases. On that basis, SCE is reporting there were no releases of principal radionuclides in liquid or gaseous effluents from the SONGS ISFSI to the environment in 2017.

There are no commitments in this letter.
