Dear Mr. Corletti:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff prepared a draft topical report safety evaluation in support of Westinghouse Electric Companys (Westinghouse) submittal of WCAP-17938, AP1000 In-Containment Cables and Non-Metallic Insulation Debris Integrated Assessment, Revision 2, dated June 7, 2017 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML17163A296). On January 4, 2018, the staff issued a draft topical report safety evaluation for WCAP-17938, Revision 2, and provided the draft safety evaluation to the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS)
Subcommittee to support a subcommittee meeting held on February 7, 2018, to address this topical report. A full committee meeting is scheduled for April 5, 2018.
To address issues raised by the ACRS Subcommittee, Westinghouse issued an additional supplement to the topical report (ADAMS Accession No. ML18065A037), and the staff prepared Revision 1 of the draft safety evaluation (ADAMS Accession No. ML18054A095), enclosed.
The enclosed draft topical report safety evaluation, Revision 1, is being provided only to Westinghouse for review of proprietary information pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 10 CFR 2.390 Public Inspections, Exemptions, Requests for Withholding. The NRC will withhold the enclosed draft topical report safety evaluation from public disclosure for a total of 10 business days. If within that 10-day period you do not request that all or portions of the draft topical report safety evaluation be withheld from public disclosure, the enclosure will be made publicly available through the NRC Public Documents Room and the publicly available records component of the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System.
Document transmitted herewith contains sensitive unclassified information. When separated from the enclosure, this document is DECONTROLLED.
