This. refers to the routine safety inspection cond.ucted by Ors. R. B. Holtzman
and J. E. House of this office on June 29 through July 2, 1987 and July 14-15,
1987, of activities at the Palisades Nuclear Generating Plant, authorized by
NRC Operating License No. DPR-20 and to *the discussion of our findings with
Mr. R. M. Rice on July 2, 1987 and Mr. K. Haas on July 15, 1987 and others
of your staff at the conclusion of the ins~ection. Telephone discus~ions were
held with Messrs. R. M. Rice and S. F. Pierce on July 7 and 16, 1987. relating
to the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the in~pection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selecti~e
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
In accordance wi4h 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission
1s regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed i'nspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.*
