Director, Nuclear Reactor Regulation US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT -

WITHDRAWAL OF TSCR FOR EXTENSION OF AFW PUMP ALLOWED OUTAGE TIME NRC letter dated January 30, 1986, enclosed Amendment No.96 to our Palisades Operating License.

The amendment revised our Technical Specifications for the Auxiliary Feedwater System (AFW) to reflect modifications made to the system, including the addition of a third AFW pump.

The amendment did not incorporate our request for an extension of the maximum period of inoperability of an AFW pump from 72 hours8.333333e-4 days
0.02 hours
1.190476e-4 weeks
2.7396e-5 months
to 7 days.

This letter is to withdraw our request for an extension of the LCO.

Resolution of NRC concerns regarding an increase in risk from the proposed extension in allowed outage time necessitate completion of a total plant Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA).

We expect completion of this effort for Palisades within approximately one Y,ear.

We, therefor'e,' withdraw our request for an LCO extension at this time.
