In response to questions raised during the NRC review of the Palisades Main Steam Line Break Evaluat'ion, dated May 23, 1985, the enclosed Auxiliary Feedwater System Reliabiid.ty Analysis is submitted.

  • Members of the NRC staff I

and Consumers Power Compapy staff met in Bethesda on January 9, 1986 to discuss the reliabi.J'.ity o~ the AFW system as compared to that derived in the MSLB evaluation.

As a follow-up to the meeting, a reevaluation of the AFW system reliability using the guidelines of NUREG-0635 was conducted.

This reevaluation concludes that the AFW system is reliable and also provides justification for not equating the results of the MSLB AFW model with system reliability.
