ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR DIESEL GENERATOR SURVEILLANCE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS CHANGE REQUEST Consumers Power Company letter dated August 2, 1985 submitted a Technical Specifications Change Request to change the 18-month diesel generator surveillance schedule to each refueling cycle.
At the time of the submittal the surveillance on the 1-2 diesel generator was coming due on September 24.
That surveillance was completed in August during the forced outage that followed the plant trip on August 11, 1985.
The surveillance on the 1-1 diesel generator comes due on November 1, 1985.
Our inspection of the 1-2 diesel generator showed all parts to be in working order and did not indicate any need to inspect the 1-1 diesel generator due to any imminent failure problem.
The inspection results provide further evidence that changing the surveillance frequency to each refueling cycle, which may at times exceed an 18-month frequency, will have no detrimental effect on the operation of the diesel generators.
Because the 1-1 diesel generator is due on November 1, 1985, we again request your prompt action in reviewing and approving the Technical Specifications Change Request.
