JUL 1 6 1985 CAL-R II I-85-09 This letter refers to the telephone conversation between Messrs. G. C. Wright and L. A. Reyes of this office and Mr. J. F. Firlit and Mr. D. VandeWalle of your staff, concerning the results of the licensed operator and senior operator NRC administered requalification examinations conducted at the Palisades Nuclear.
Plant during the week of July 1, 1985.
Based on the matters discussed it is our understanding that the two senior operators and three operators who failed the written requalification examination administered on July 3, 1985, will not be permitted to independently perform licensed duties until: 1) they have satisfactorily completed an accelerated requalification program and 2) they have passed* a written examination which received prior review and acceptance by the NRC.
These individuals are identified by license number in the enclosure.
If your understanding of our discussion is different from that stated above, please inform this office promptly.
