Dear Mr. VandeWalle:

SUBJECT:

REVISED LOSS OF COOLANT ACCIDENT ANALYSIS FOR THE PALISADES PLANT The NRC staff has completed the review of your April 27, 1984 submittal, 11Resubmittal of LOCA Analysis for the Palisades Plant. 11 The staff's safety evaluation is enclosed. As indicated in the enclosed safety evaluation, we conclude that your submittal demonstrates that the Palisades Plant, with up to 5,000 steam generator tubes plugged, meets the criteria of 10 CFR 50.46. However, you have not provided any information which addresses the impact of increased steam generator tube plugging on other postulated transients and accidents. Accordingly, as stated in the safety evaluation, you should assess the impact of increased plugging on other events prior to plant operation with more than 4175 steam generator tubes plugged.
