1983/1984 STEAM GENERATOR EVALUATION AND REPAIR Consumers Power Company letter dated April 19, 1984 transmitted the report entitled "1983/1984 Steam Generator Evaluation and Repair Program Report."

This report contained a detailed summary of, the evaluations and analyses performed by Consumers Power Company to assess the condition of the steam generators, and our plans to repair the steam generators and return the plant to service.

The purpose of this letter is to document two additional commit-ments regarding the steam generators as discussed with certain members of your staff on May 10, 1984.

The following additional comments were agreed to:

1.

Allowable primary to secondary leakage will be limited to 0.1 gpm as opposed to 0.3 gpm as presently allowed by Technical Specification 3.1.5.d.

The new limit will require a controlled plant shutdown if steam generator leakage exceeds 0.1 gpm for any period of steady state opera-tion greater than 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
and will be imposed either by a "Standing Order" or a change to plant operating procedures.

The limit for periods of startup and major load changes will remain the same as currently specified in the Technical Specifications.

2.

Our plans for eddy current testing of the steam generators during the next refueling outage will be submitted to the NRC two months prior to the start of the outage (currently planned for September, 1985).
