ENCLOSURE QUESTIONS ON PALISADES TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION CHANGE FOR OPERATION WITH 50%
S. G. TUBE PLUGGING (XN-NF-84-14)
- 1.
The present analysis has been predicated on a 60% - 40% tube failure rating.
How well would the analytical methods predict a more lopsided tube plugging and what would be the effect on reactor operation?
(assume that the tube plugging does exceed the level of 50% total)
- 2.
The level o~ the proposed steam generator tube plugging is beyond the range of anything the staff has reviewed and the industry has experienced in thE:! past. Therefore, how did you assure yourself of the adequacy of the calculations for the loop flow and the loop dependent parameters?
- 3.
For a 60% -
40% operation one would expect significant core power tilt *.
What were the results of your calculations on core power tilt prediction?
- 4.
In view of 2 above, how well have the analytical methods predicted core perfonnance with plugged tubes?
Were there any extrapolations made for the methods used?
Will the licensee institute a verification program to monitor perfonnance as a function of the number of tubes plugged?
