1 consumers Power company General Offices: 1945 West Parnall Road, Jackson, Ml 49201 * (517) 788-0550 October 28, 1983 Dennis M Crutchfield, Chief Operating Reactor Branch No 5 Nuclear Reactor Regulation US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT - IPSAR SECTION 4.9 AND 4.15.2, PIPE BREAK INSIDE CONTAINMENT AND REACTOR COOLANT PRESSURE BOUNDARY (RCPB) LEAKAGE DETECTION REQUIREMENT NRC letter, dated June 22, 1983, requested Consumers Power Company to propose corrective measures for two high energy line breaks (one in the charging line and one in the let down line) which were identified as possibly damaging Steam Generator and pressurizer instrument lines. Also it was stated that Technical Specifications changes should be proposed concerning the operability of installed leakage detection systems.

Consumers Power Company letter dated July 28, 1983 stated that the requests proposals would be submitted by November 1, 1983.

In a telephone conversation with the NRC Staff on October 26, 1983 a change to the submittal date was negotiated for December 15, 1983.

The additional time is necessary due to the current refueling outage which has caused an increase in the work load of key personnel required to perform the above analysis.
