1. The scope of review covers the time from 1nftfal crftfcalfty through and including 1979 only.

2.

The definition of Design Basts Event (DBE) used fn this evaluation, as described in Section 3 of the report, is a postulated disturbance fn process variables or postulated malfunctfo.n which the plant ts designed to withstand and, for which analyses are typically included fn safety analysts reports. In the context of this report, small steam generator 1 ea ks were characterized as steam generator tube faflures, and loss of flow from one feedwater train was considered to qualffy as a loss of feedwater flow DBE, altho1,1gh these scenarios are less severe than the cases considered in the safety analysis.

3. It is the staff's intent to use these data to assist fn evaluation of plant 'devfatfQns from lfcensing criteria f~entfffed fn topic revte*ws.

Since reporting requirements have changed over the ye~rs and differ from plant to plant, the sta,ff does not consf der ft apP-roprf ate to perform statf stfcal studies wfth thf s data base.
