Consumers Power Company has reviewed this evaluation and submits the following comments for your consideration.
These comments are provided for completeness and do not change the conclusions of the report.
- a.
The South Haven airport has one paved runway, designated 4-22, and one turf_ runway, designated 18-34.
The second turf runway has been decommissioned.
- b.
The evaluation addresses potential missile hazards from the South Haven airport which is located about three miles from the plant.
There are also Ross Field, Millburg and Watervliet airports located between ten (10) and thirteen (13) miles from the plant, that were not considered.
Ross Field has approximately 34,000
- operations per year consisting of general aviation, air carrier, air taxi and military.
Mill burg and Watervliet are uncontrolled airports which do not have recorded operation history.
We would expect these airport operations to have an insignificant effect on the calculated probabilities.
- c.
The safety injection and refueling water tank is shadowed on three sides by the containment, auxiliary and turbine buildings.
- d.
The diesel generators are separated by a concrete and masonry block wall.
