consumers Power company General Offices: 212 West Michigan Avenue, Jackson, Michigan 49201 * (517) 788-0650 February 14, 1980 Director, Nuclear Reactor Regulation Att Mr Dennis L Ziemann, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No 2 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 Consilmers Power Company is a member* of the Combustion Engineering Owners.. Group (CEOG) formed to evaluate the asymmetr:Lc LOCA loads.

By.letter dated November 20, 1979, the'NRC requested that the CEOG submit.an Asymmetric LOCA Loads Interim Report on or before February 15, !'980.

This report will be submitted by Baltimore Gas and Electric Company on behalf of Consumers Power Company and the other participants of ~his project.

The CEOG believes that the contents of this interim report provide all the necessary information for NRC review and approval of the efforts that have been conducted thus far.

These. efforts verify the adequacy of the reactor vessel supports, steam generator' supports, reactor.coolant pump supports and the ECCS piping supports of the Palisades Plant.

Ba.sed on the adequacy of these components, it is Consumers Power Company's belief that the continued operation of the Palisades Plant is justified.

It is the intention of the CEOG to complete th.e entire asymmetric loads evaluation and submit an appendix to the interim report on or before July 1, 1980.
