Site: SALEM Emergency Class: NON EMERGENCY "At approximately 0925 [EST] on 02/06/2018 a deceased Shortnose Sturgeon was removed from the Salem Unit 2 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. A report was made by Environmental Licensing to the National Marine Fisheries at 1138 [EST] and NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife at 1141
[EST] concerning the Shortnose Sturgeon.
"Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this event warrants a 4 hr report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.2.a."
The death was not causal to plant operations; the Shortnose Sturgeon was deceased upon retrieval.
The licensee notified the Lower Alloways Creek Township and the NRC Resident Inspector.
Notified the R1DO (Powell) and endangered species group (via email).
