Dear Mr. Ippolito:
On August 17, 1979, Niagara Mohawk responded to the Fire Protection Safety Evaluation Report for Nine Mile Point Unit 1, dated July 26, 1979.
In our
- response, we proposed to encapsulate diesel generator 103 output cables instead of rerouting.
Niagara Mohawk understands that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is currently evaluating this proposal.
By this letter, we request that this evaluation be expanded to consider encapsulating diesel generator 102 control cables as well.
These control cables can be encapsulated similar to that proposed for diesel generator 103 output cables such that three hour fire barrier protection is assured.
