SUMMARY

OF A WORKING MEETING WITH TVA ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF A DEPENDENCY MATRIX FOR EMERGENCY DIESEL GENERATORS By letter dated June 6, 1990, the NRC staff requested TVA to provide a complete dependency matrix, by August 10, 1990, that would show the interrelationships'f safety-related loads supplied by the emergency diesel generators'EDGs),

including applicable EDG support systems.

On July 16, 1990, TVA met with the NRC staff in a working meeting to discuss their current progress on developing an acceptable dependency matrix; enclosed is a list of the attendees.

Although there were no handouts, TVA did talk from a preliminary draft of the subject dependency matrix.

By the end of the meeting, the NRC staff concluded that TVA's approach and draft product appeared to adequately address the staff's request.

However, the staff did recommend that TVA consider incorporating the effects of the following components into their matrix - HPCI/RCIC vacuum pumps, fire protection, lubrication of safety-related

pumps, and the HPCI condensate

'ump.

TVA committed to assess the significance of including these components.
