NRC Garret Henderson, OGC Osiris Siurano, NMSS Jacob Zimmerman, NMSS AREVA Michael French Jim Kay Tom Pennington Call Summary On September 6, 2017, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff from the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, Division of Fuel Cycle Safety, Safeguards, and Environmental Review, and the Office of the General Counsel held a conference call with staff from the New AREVA Holdings SAS (AREVA) to discuss the companys public announcement that it will change its name from New AREVA Holdings SAS to Orano. The purpose of the call was for the NRC staff to better understand the details of the recent announcement and discuss possible implications that the transaction may have on Special Nuclear Materials License Number 2015 for the Eagle Rock Enrichment Facility (EREF) to be built by AREVA in Bonneville County, Idaho.

During the call, AREVA provided a brief description of what the transaction entails. AREVA stated that the transaction only involves a name change, or rebranding, of the company and will not involve any change in ownership, personnel, and/or company officials. In addition, AREVA stated that none of its U.S. entities have changed name as of the date of the call, but that this is a possibility in the near future. Finally, AREVA stated that a written notification describing the transaction and AREVAs plans regarding the EREF will be submitted to the NRC within the next weeks. The call was adjourned at 11:15 A.M.
