Zimmerman, Chief Enrichment and Conversion Branch Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555-0001 Centrus Energy Corp. Headquarters Classified Administrative Thin Client System Security Control Security Plan - Resubmittal of Request

Dear Mr. Zimmerman:

The purpose of this letter is to replace Centrus Energy Corp. (Centrus) letter AC 18-0001, which requested U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval of a 180-day Interim Authorization to Operate the Centrus Headquarters (HQ) classified network. Centrus requested that letter AC 18-0001 be withheld from public disclosure on the basis that it contained Security-Related Information and Official Use Only information. Centrus has subsequently determined that this information should not be withheld from public disclosure.

The Centrus HQ cyber security plan SP-HQ-0002, Centrus Energy Corp. Headquarters Classified Administrative Thin Client System Security Control Security Plan, Revision 1 credited certain baseline security control functions contained in the American Centrifuge Operating (ACO) cyber security plan SP-3605-0009, American Centrifuge Classified Networks Baseline Security Control Security Plan. With the decommissioning of ACO's Piketon, Ohio, facility, the Centrus HQ plan, SP-HQ-0002, must be updated to include the baseline security control functions previously credited from ACO's plan, SP-3605-0009. The 180-day Interim Authorization to Operate will allow the Centrus HQ classified network to continue to operate while the HQ cyber security plan is updated.

During this interim period, Centrus HQ will continue to observe the baseline security control functions in SP-3605-0009 as appropriate.

Centrus requests NRC approval of the 180-day Interim Authorization to Operate prior to changing the status of ACO's Piketon, Ohio, facility to non-possessing. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at (301) 564-3250.

Sincerely, Steven A. Toelle Director, Regulatory Affairs cc:
