ENCLOSURE ADDITIONAL RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 84-23 REACTOR VESSEL WATER LEVEL INSTRUMENTATION IN BWR'S BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT Hi h Dr ell Te er ature The effects of high drywell temperature on level indications will be minimized by limiting the vertical drop of the reference legs inside the drywell to no more than two feet.

This will be accomplished by b i 'h r ngxng e reference legs outside the drywell at higher elevations utilizing a drywell ventilation penetration and an unused piping penetration.

This modification may also f

entail removing the heated reference leg temperature compensation from the wade range water level instrumentation.

This m dif'i o

xca on w ll be completed during the cycle 7 refueling outages on all three units.
