Dear Mr. Grier:
The following information is provided in response to IE Bulletin 80-10, "Contamination of Nonradioactive System and Resulting Potential for Unmonitored, Uncontrolled Release of Radioactivity to Environment."
Investigation of these concerns is being coordinated with related concerns in the following circulars:
IE Circular 77-14, "Separation of Contaminated Water Systems from Noncontaminated Plant Systems" IE Circular 79-21, "Prevention of Unplanned Releases of Radioactivity" IE Circular 80-14, "Radioactive Contamination of Plant Demineralized Water System and ResultaTTt Internal Contamination of Personnel" IE Bulletin actions to be taken:
1.
Preliminary investigations have determined that the makeup and steamlines to and from the auxiliary boilers could become contaminated due to leakage from radioactive systems.
Investi-gations of other systems are still in progress.
2.
A routine sampling/analysis program will be established for systems having a significant potential for contamination.
