Dear Mr. Youngblood.:

PP&L provided responses to NRC's Human Factors Review in our letter PLA-648, dated February 27, 1981. Subsequently, we have concluded that our response to item 5j should be changed. The nature of the change was discussed in a phone conversation between R. T. Jensen of PP&L and R. J, Schemel of the Human Factors Engineering Branch. Mr. Schemel requested a brief description of the change and drawings. (See attachment). We plan to implement this change in

the near future.

ATTACHMENT TO PLA-768 PPGL changes its response to item 5j of the Human Factors Engineering review to the following:

The control switches for containment atmosphere control (Subpanel 20c) will be arranged to provide a functional grouping that is consistent with the operation of the equipment. Enhancements will be added to clarify the functional groups..

In our original recommendation we stated that switches would be moved to address separation concerns. However, our final solution to the separation concerns resulted in a configuration different from Figure 4 in our report.

This forced us to modify the layout of the switches to address the functional grouping criteria. The attached drawings show the original figure from our report and a new figure showing the change.
