Dear Mr. Youngblood:
This is to confirm a verbal committment given in a meeting with.the
'NRC Staff on March 26,'981.
PPSL will provide fully qualified purge and vent valves.
The va1ves will be analyzed for a five second closure under full LOCA, pressure Analysis, testing, valve modification or system modification are being explored in the applicants program.
If'any physical modifications are
- required, a detailed implementation schedule will be transmitted to the NRC by November
- 26. 1981.
PPSL will comply with the interiin position given in Attachment 1 to par'agraph II.E.4.2 of NUREG-0737 by fuel load if it is not possible to complete the physical modifications by that time In any event PP8L commits to full qualification of the valves no later than the start up following the first refueling outage Very truly yours, N.ll.
