20555 Gentlemen:

This letter is to inform you that Pennsylvania Power 5 Light Company currently plans to construct a holding facility for low-level radioactive waste at its Susquehanna Steam Electric Station.

The facility will provide interim storage'apability for a maximum period of four years and is intended for contingency use only.

Ne are in the process of finalizing the design of the facility and anticipate filing for the nec-essary license at the appropriate time.

Construction is ex-pected to begin in March 1981.
