'980, concerning the cracking of the get pump holddown beams at Dresden 3.

Operating BHR's were requested to provide a written response to this bulletin.

BiIR's not yet operating were issued this bulletin for information only.

put Office of Inspection and Enforcement fs currently monitoring the efforts of General Electrfc and various BWR L'fcensees for developing.

a long-term soIu-tion to the crackfng problem.

Qperatfng BWR's are being required to take certain short-term actions such as inservfce inspection to preclude excessive cracking while a long-term solution fs developed.

It is expected that this long-term solution will be applicable to both operating and non-operating BHR's.

112.10 To aid us In our 'Ilcenslng review or Susquehanna, you are requested to provide the foIlowlng Infonnatlon to us:

Describe those actions being taken by you to preclude the occurrence of cracking such as described in IE Bulletin 80-07.

Provide a commitment to adopt whatever long-term solution fs approved.

3. If you. anticipate receiving an pperatfng License before a long-term solution is agreed upon, describe any short-term actions which you will take to prevent or detect excessive cracking.

Provide a ratfonale as to why these actions are sufffcient to justify olant operation until a long-term solution fs found.
