REPORT OF A DEFECT IN SSES DAMPERS ERs 100450/100508 FILE 840-4 PLA-485
Dear Mr. Grier:
In the attached letter dated May 6, 1980, American Warming 6 Ventilating, Znc., notified the U. S. 'NRC under the provisions, of 10CFR Part 21 that defects existed "in the workmanship and design of some wiring connections" of dampers supplied to the SSES project.
Through subsequent correspondence the notification was forwarded to Bechtel Power Corporation and PPGL.
Upon receipt of the information, A. R. Sabol, PPGL advised Mr. R. Gallo, NRC Resident Inspector of the AWVr Znc., Part 21 report during a May 15, 1980 telephone conversation and acknowledged its relationship to equipment which had been supplied for SSES.
Further, since AWV, Znc., has reported the defects under 10CFR Part 21, PPGL recognizes its additional responsibility for evaluating the safety impact of the defects for their potential for reportability under the specific provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
Upon conclusion of its evaluation, PPGL will advise the Commission accordingly and will identify the date by which a formal report, if-necessary, will be submitted as required by 10CFR50.55(e)
