October 16, 1985 Docket Nos. 50-259/260/296 Mr. Hugh G. Parris Manager of Power Tennessee Valley Authority 500A Chestnut Street, Tower II Chattanooga, Tennessee 37401

Dear Mr. Parris:

SUBJECT:

EFFECTIVE DATES OF TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION AMENDMENTS Re:

Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Units 1, 2 and 3

Your letter dated July ll, 1985 requests that technical specification amendments (Browns Ferry units only) requested prior to your letter contain a provision that the amendment be effective "within 90 days of the date of issuance unless otherwise specified."

Your letter states that this time period is needed to allow plant instructions to be revised.

He recognize that in addition to time required for distribution, many amendments require time for retraining and new procedures; therefore, we will discuss the implementation date of each future amendment with your staff on a case-by-case basis.

Sincerely, Original signed by RAHermann for/
