0 July 31, 1985 Docket Nos.

50-259/260/296 Mr. Hugh G. Parris Manager of Power Tennessee Valley Authority 500A Chestnut Street, Tower II Chattanooga, Tennessee 37401

Dear Mr. Parris:

SUBJECT:

ADEQUACY OF STATION ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM VOLTAGES - VERIFICATION TESTING Re:

Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Units I, 2 and 3

Your previous submittals on the above generic issue had satisfactorily resolved all concerns except the possible consequences of a potential over-voltage condition under some circumstances when using the backup 161 kV offsite p'ower source.

We have reviewed your response of September 18, 1984 to our request of June 19, 1984 and have discussed the test programs with your staff.

Our Safety Evaluation is enclosed.

We have concluded that the additional information you provided satisfactorily resolves the issue of a potential over-voltage condition at Browns Ferry.

Sincerely, Original signed by/
