While making improvements to the analytical code we use for estimating doses from liquid effluents from Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (BFNP), the algorithm which determines the population dose to liver was revised to include doses from recreational activities. A table is enclosed which compares the recently calculated values to those previously reported.

Although the changes are fairly small (less than 10 percent), we believe mention is warranted because the liver has been reported as the critical organ for BFNP.

Before July 1980 doses to liver were not specifically calculated.

Therefore, only the doses reported in references 1 and 2 are affected by the code revisions.

To the best of my knowledge, I declare the statements contained herein are complete and true.

Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY 850y PDR 3>

a. The revision incorporates addition of doses calculated to result from recreational activities in and near the Tennessee River.
b. The typographical error in the text of the report (page 5, paragraph 3) gives this value as 7.2. The value of 7.7, as found in table 14, is correct.
