50-260 50-296 Please refer to my letter to,you dated June 12, 1984 regar ding Appendix R to 10 CFR 50, Fire Proteotion, for our Browns Ferry Nuolear Plant.

As committed in that letter, we are enolosing TVA's submittal regarding the requirements of Appendix R at Browns Ferry.

This document c'ompletely supercedes our Appendix R submittal dated March 27,

,1984 and is the only document necessary for your review.

As identified in attachment 8, Justifioation for Exemptions, Nos.

5 and 15 have outstanding

-issues which will be addressed in the following manner.

In regard to exemption No. 5, Intervening Combustibles, we are currently appealing the staff position regarding intervyning combustibles at watts Bar.

Upon final resolution of that appeal, we will submit appropriate Justification for this exemption.

In regard to exemption No. 15, Fire Door Modifioations, we will submit the results of an evaluation of the impaot of the fire door modifications by February 15, 1985.

Also, in my August 23, 1984 letter to you, we provided additional information to your staff regarding our outstanding sohedular exemption request.

In order to minimize the impact on our future outages (including the ongoing unit 2 oycle 5 outage),

we request that you process our request as expeditiously as possible.
