- 1982, we submitted our response to NUREG-0313 request for additional information for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
This letter provides supplementary information.
In item 2.b of the December 20, response we stated that delta ferrite readings would be taken on the A 351 CF8M casting RHR stainless valves at the next refueling outage for each unit.
Delta ferrite readings have been taken on the unit 3 valve during the current outage.
The readings show that the ferrite content of the cast austenitic stainless steel ranges from 8 to 20 percent with 15 to 16 percent being a more representative value.
Cast austenitic stainless steel with at least five percent ferrite has been demonstrated to be highly resistant to intergranular stress corrosion cracking.
These delta ferrite readings will be taken on Browns Ferry unit 2 during the next refueling outage and the resul'ts reported at that time.
The results for unit 1 were reported by my letter to you dated June 22, 1983.
As with the December 20 letter, a copy of this is also being sent to EGKG Idaho, Inc.
