50-260 In accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR Part 50.59, we are enclosing 40 copies of a requested amendment to license DPR-52 to change the technical specifications of Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant unit 2 (Enclosure 1).

The proposed amendment requests changes in the technical specifications to extend the exposure range of the fuel presently loaded in the core.

The exposure of the fuel in the core is projected to exceed the licensed exposure of 30,000 Mtfd/t about January 1,

1982.

Me, therefore, request approval by December 11, 1981.

Also provided is the justification and safety analysis for this change (Enclosure 2).

In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR Part 170.22, we have determined this proposed amendment to be Class II for unit 2.

This classification is based on the fact that the proposed amendment is an administrative change that has no safety significance.

The remittance for 41,200 is being wired to the NRC, Attention:
